Good Sunday morning – it’s a powder day! On Saturday night, 5 inches accumulated at the summit and 5.5 inches was measured at mid-mountain near the top of the Gondola. When you head out to the hill for first chair, you’ll find a comfortable temperature of 20 degrees at mid-mountain and flurries still in the air (which may add another 1/2 inch of snow to the official snow stake). Get out and enjoy the pow, which is about what we expected as the forecast was for 3-6 inches on Saturday night.
From Sunday midday through Monday afternoon, we’ll see dry weather with partly-to-mostly cloudy skies as our next storm slowly moves toward Colorado from the west-southwest.
From Monday night through Tuesday night, we might see a few snow showers, though I think most of this time will be dry and any snow accumulation should be minimal.
From Tuesday night through Wednesday midday, we will likely see light snow, and then expect a better chance for more intense snow from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday midday. After that, we may see a brief break in the snow on Thursday afternoon, with flakes returning on Thursday night through midday Friday.
Your best chance to ski fresh powder will be last chair on Wednesday, first chair on Thursday, and first chair on Friday, with total accumulations this week potentially getting to double-digits.
Following this week’s storm, expect dry weather from later Friday, January 12th through Wednesday, January 17th, and then a stormier period should begin on or around Thursday, January 18th.
