Sunday was warm and windy during the morning, then the cold front arrived at 1100 am and temperatures quickly dropped by 10-15 degrees. The snow started between noon and 100 pm and 4 inches accumulated by the end of the day, which was enough to create soft turns on some of the lower-angle or north-facing terrain. An additional inch fell after lifts closed, which brings the 24-hour tally to 5 inches by Monday morning. Five inches was at the lower end of my 4-8 forecast range, but we'll take it!
Now on Monday morning, dress warmly as the temperature is between 0F at the summit and +15F at the base, summit winds are blowing at 20-40mph, and clouds and light snow showers are still in the air. The new 5 inches of snow will likely feel dense and ‘surfy’ due to the faster wind speeds and cold temperature.
For the rest of Monday and Monday night, we should see a continuation of some clouds and snow showers with just light accumulations.
Then Tuesday should be partly sunny with lighter winds and a warmer temperature, topping out in the upper teens to low 20s.
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will also be sunny with highs getting into the mid-to-upper 30s.
Our next chance for light snow will occur between Friday evening and Sunday morning, then we’ll have another chance of getting a weak-to-moderately strong storm between about Sunday evening and next Tuesday (March 13th). After that, the next chance for snow will be around March 17th.
Thanks for reading and stay tuned for an update each morning!
