Joe Nicholls and NOAA Forecast for Thursday, May 25, 2017

Joe Nicholls

An area of low pressure over the northern Rockies will push southward today and tomorrow, and the radar has shown a fairly significant increase in shower activity since midnight. Certainly unstable enough for a chance of a thunderstorm today, tomorrow and Saturday, then we should see a drier and more stable air mass Sunday through early next week. I hesitated taking the chance of an afternoon thunderstorm out altogether, as I could see an isolated development.

On this date in 1967, Procol Harum's 'A Whiter Shade Of Pale' entered the UK chart for the first time, where it went on to become a No.1 hit. 'A Whiter Shade Of Pale' became the most played song in the last 75 years in public places in the UK (as of 2009). The first film for the song was shot in the ruins of Witley Court in Worcestershire, England and included Vietnam War newsreel footage.  Director Peter Clifton made a second film, sans the Vietnam footage, which allowed the film to be played on Top of the Pops TV show.
