Joe Nicholls and NOAA Forecast for, Monday, August 7, 2017

Joe Nicholls

The moisture is pooling over the region, so a lot of clouds over the next couple of days with an increase in showers and thunderstorms. I expect some areas of heavier rainfall, especially near the thunderstorms. A gradual decrease in the activity at the end of the week and next weekend, but still a chance each afternoon or early evening.

Joe is calling for a low chance of thunderstorms from Noon to 4 pm, a moderate chance from 4 pm to 8 pm, and a low chance from then to Midnight.

On this date in 1974, Philippe Petit gained fame for his high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. The drop was 1,350 feet. He performed for 45 minutes, making eight passes along the wire. The following week, he celebrated his 25th birthday. All charges were dismissed in exchange for him doing a performance in Central Park for children.

He has become adept at equestrianism, juggling, fencing, carpentry, rock-climbing, and bullfighting. Spurning circuses and their formulaic performances, he created his street persona on the sidewalks of Paris. In the early 1970s, he visited New York City, where he frequently juggled and worked on a slackline in Washington Square Park.
