A very weak system will move across us today, and the air mass is most unstable late this morning and early afternoon, and stabilizes later in the afternoon and evening. The air mass is cooler today, but will be warming tomorrow and Sunday. Another weak system later Sunday and Monday will bring a slight chance of a thunderstorm, but the overnight models are weaker with this system, so I'll stay with a slight chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm.

On this date in 1910, the first round trip flight over the English Channel was made by C.S. Rolls. If that name sounds familiar, he is the first half of Rolls Royce Automobiles. Mr. Rolls was fascinated by aeroplanes. He had met the Wright brothres in New York and tried to persuade Mr. Royce to build aeroplane engines. Mr. Royce declined (he would change his mind). Mr. Rolls bought a Wright Flyer, making over 200 flights.
His trip across the channel took 95 minutes. As was the case with many pioneering pilots, Mr Royce died on July 12, 1910 when a control wire broke.
