Don’t Let Holiday Celebrations End Tragically from Grand Futures

The holidays are a wonderful time of year, filled with celebrations, time with loved ones and good cheer.  But, for the 775 families whose loved ones were killed during December 2010 in alcohol-impaired-driving crashes, the joyous celebrations ended in disaster.

That’s why Grand Futures of Routt County is joining with highway safety partners and law enforcement organizations across the country this December to remind people that during the holidays and throughout the year,…

Mountain News for Tuesday, December 16, 2012 from Doug Allen

What a difference a week makes, well OK, it’s really been 10 days because it started with 8 inches on Sunday the 8th.  We were comparing ourselves to the winter of 1999-2000 playing golf on December the 7th and remembering it turned out to be an above average year for snowfall.  As many of you know, I’m a big fan of these storm patterns that bring the weather in from the northwest.  The first several busts of snow came from the northwest then we had a big low pressure…

Mountain News for Saturday, December 8, 2012 from Doug Allen

If you’re like me you’re anxious to a change in this prolonged dry weather pattern.  It seems as though these little snow showers we’ve been seeing aren’t really enough to curb the anxiety.  The good news is that a significant change in the weather is due in here around noon today with some measurable snow, wind and much colder temperatures.  Tomorrow morning we could be in the single digits and, yes, we might need to shovel some snow.

We find ourselves operating with very…
