Joe Nicholls and NOAA Forecast for Friday, June 23, 2017

Joe Nicholls

We saw a little activity early yesterday afternoon, but most of it shifted down toward I-70 by mid to late afternoon. A cooler, drier air mass is over us this morning and we should have a couple of nice weather days. We'll be warming up through Monday and Tuesday, then a weak front will move across us Tuesday and early Wednesday bringing a slight chance of a thunderstorm. The next couple of days look awesome!

Joe Nicholls and NOAA Forecast for Thursday, June 22, 2017

Joe Nicholls

It was a fairly active day in the region yesterday, not a lot of precipitation reports, but a couple and there were thunderstorms. The air mass is unstable enough for a chance of a thunderstorm, but looking more isolated today. Definitely a more stable air mass tomorrow through the weekend, so it's looking nice and it'll be cooler than the last couple of days.

NOAA - Steamboat Springs

Today - Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. Light west wind increasing…

Joe Nicholls and NOAA Forecast for Wednesday, June 21, 2017

The first full day of summer!

Joe Nicholls

The air mass remains quite warm, but the air mass is fairly unstable. So, like yesterday, we'll see the heating help generate some thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. A little less activity tomorrow, then a drier more stable air mass will follow a cool front and this should result in nice weather through the coming weekend.

There is a low chance of thunderstorms from Noon to 8 pm.

Joe Nicholls and NOAA Forecast for Tuesday, June 20, 2017

Joe Nicholls

There is low chance of thunderstorms from 4 pm to Midnight.

A warm air mass will be over us for the next couple of days, but I also see an increase in moisture and a less stable air mass. There are a couple of showers and thunderstorms into northern Utah this morning, and as we heat up later this afternoon and evening, we'll see a couple of thunderstorms into our area. Now, not widespread enough to change plans, but enough of a chance to keep aware that a couple…

We'll have another nice weather day at the resort, but as the heat builds over the West, we'll see a scattering of afternoon and evening thunderstorms tomorrow through Thursday. The air mass remains dry, but with a little instability to the air mass this afternoon and evening, could see an isolated thunderstorm and the same with tomorrow. Joe Nicholls and NOAA Forecast for Wednesday, June 14, 2017

Joe Nicholls

Looking like a couple reports of some showers across the upper elevations, but not much down lower. The low pressure has moved into North Dakota and up into Manitoba, and we're left with a couple of awesome weather days!! The jet stream or main flow will be across the Pacific Northwest and into the northern Rockies through the end of the week and into the weekend with the tail end of a system clipping us Saturday with a slight chance of a brief shower or thunderstorm.…

Joe Nicholls and NOAA Forecast for Tuesday, June 13, 2017

Joe Nicholls

A much cooler air mass is over the area this morning, and the low pressure moving northeastward across western Wyoming and up into Montana. I kept a slight chance of a shower in the forecast, but I'm not expecting much, at all. A drier air mass and warmer over the next couple of days. Another system will clip the area later Friday and Saturday with the lifted index dropping to -2, so a very slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm, and then Sunday into early next week is…

Joe Nicholls and NOAA Forecast for Monday, June 12, 2017

Joe Nicholls

The low pressure is centered southwest of Ely, Nevada early this morning, and the projected path takes it northeastward across northern Utah, west central Wyoming and then up into eastern Montana. The models keep us in the drier wedge of air, but can't rule out an isolated thunderstorm this afternoon, and a chance of a couple of showers tomorrow. We will see breezy winds both today and tomorrow with speeds from mid resort to the top in the 25 to 35 mph range from the…

Joe Nicholls and NOAA Forecast for Friday, June 9, 2017

Joe Nicholls

A dry, stable air mass over us for the next couple of days with an unusually strong low pressure moving into the West. We'll see some breezy winds, especially during the afternoon hours and it's warm over the next couple of days. As the low pressure moves northeastward toward Montana, it'll bring some cooler air into the area, but the models keep us dry through early next week.

The air mass mass is drier and more stable over the next couple of days! Low pressure moving into the Pacific Northwest is resulting in more of a southwest flow of air and ushering a drier, more stable air mass. The low pressure will push eastward bringing a cooler air mass early next week with a slight chance of. a shower or thunderstorm on Monday.

NOAA - Storm Peak Observatory

Joe Nicholls and NOAA Forecast for Wednesday, June 7, 2017

Joe Nicholls

Projecting a -4 lifted index this afternoon, so I'm expecting another fairly active day with showers and thunderstorms. Low pressure is approaching the West Coast, and this will push a drier and more stable air mass into our area tomorrow and into the weekend. This low pressure will make it into our area Monday through Wednesday with a much cooler air mass and a chance of showers.

Joe is calling for a Low chance of thunderstorms from Noon to 4 pm and a Moderate…

Joe Nicholls and NOAA Forecast for Monday, June 5, 2017

Joe Nicholls

The satellite images show a system moving northeastward across Montana, but it does extend southward with just enough moisture and lift over northwest Colorado for an increase in thunderstorms over the next couple of days. We see the lifted index drop to -3 the next couple of days, then to -4 Wednesday afternoon. We stabilize and dry out some Thursday through Saturday.

Joe is calling for a low chance of thunderstorms from Noon to 4 pm, a moderate chance from 4 pm…
