SafetyWise and Joe Nicholls' Forecast for Sunday, April 12, 2015

Ladies & Gents,

We have gone 22 days since our last day lost to a work related injury.

Joe Nicholls: There is a cold front passing by mainly to our north, but some of the energy trails down into northern Colorado and northern Utah. There were some clouds and snow showers across the upper elevations when the front moved across northern Utah, so I'm going to put clouds and a couple of snow showers (at least a chance) across the upper part of the resort. A break tomorrow, but…

SafetyWise and Joe Nicholls' Forecast for Saturday, April 11, 2015

Ladies & Gents,

We have gone 21 days since our last day lost to a work related injury.

Joe Nicholls: Another really nice weather day on the mountain, but should see a little increase in the winds. A cold front moved into the Pacific Northwest last night and will continue eastward and will clip us later tonight and tomorrow morning. I don't see any precipitation with this front, but we will see some breezy winds tomorrow and a little cooler air mass. So, other than some wind…

SafetyWise and Joe Nicholls' Forecast for Thursday, April 9, 2015

Ladies & Gents,

We have gone 19 days since our last day lost to a work related injury.

Joe Nicholls: Nice to see the snow overnight, and just took a peek at the Snow Cam and it shows 4 inches. Snow showers will linger today, but little in the way of accumulation. The next system will clip us Saturday night and Sunday morning, but it seems like the best lift and moisture is north of us. A stronger cold front arrives late Tuesday night and Wednesday.

A forgotten legend

Doug Miller - The Steamboat Today

As Steamboat Springs prepares to celebrate Ski History Week on Wednesday through Sunday with the induction ceremonies of the 2015 class of the National Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame, there is a local skiing legend I would like to recall.

I moved to Steamboat in 1973, and there was a skier who everyone knew. And if you saw him ski, your jaw would drop.

His name was Jack Taylor. He was a small…

SafetyWise and Joe Nicholls' Forecast for Wednesday, April 8, 2015

The lifted index will be -1 this afternoon and evening, so we could see an isolated thunderstorm in advance of the front. We should see a period of snow overnight, and while…
