Joe Nicholls Forecast for Monday, June 5, 2018

Joe Nicholls

The satellite images show most of the system from yesterday, east of us. There's still enough moisture and instability for a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm later in the afternoon. The rest of the week is looking dry and warm! Joe is calling for a low chance of thunderstorms from 4 to 8 pm.

Today-Sunny, with a high near 77. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight-Mostly clear, with a low around 43. West wind…

Aspen retailers weathered poor snowfall with decent performances

Rick Carroll-The Aspen Times

Independence Pass is open, tourists are trickling into Aspen this Memorial Day weekend and town will resemble its lively summer self in the coming weeks.

The uptick in guests also might help ease memories of what was deemed a poor ski season because of snow. But when it came to business, just how bad was the winter on Aspen retailers?

"It could have been…

Joe Nicholls Forecast for Friday, June 1, 2018

Joe Nicholls

A system moving across the northern Rockies will clip us this afternoon with isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms over the area. Another system will bring a chance of a couple of showers and thunderstorms Sunday into Monday, possibly Tuesday, but for now I will begin the drying process on Tuesday and the rest of next week is looking dry and warmer.

Joe is thinking there will be a Low chance of thunderstorms from 4 pm to 8 pm.

Today-Isolated showers and…

Joe Nicholls Forecast for Thursday, May 31, 2018

Joe Nicholls

The air mass is a little drier and more stable than the last couple of days, so it's looking like a nice weather day across the area. We're a little more unstable tomorrow with a slight chance of a thunderstorm. By Sunday and Monday, both the Euro and GFS have a system moving across the area bringing a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

No chance of thunderstorms today. Be wary.

Today-Sunny, with a high near 78. Light and variable wind becoming south…

Joe Nicholls Forecast for Wednesday, May 30, 2018

Joe Nicholls

All the data is showing a -3 lifted index this afternoon, and I'll keep a couple of thunderstorms in the forecast. The air mass is drier tomorrow, so even with a -2 lifted index, we shouldn't see much development. A better chance of a couple of showers and thunderstorms on Friday, but the weekend is looking awesome!

Joe thinks there is a low chance of thunderstorms from Noon to Midnight.

Today-A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 pm.…

Joe Nicholls Forecast for Tuesday, May 29, 2018

Joe Nicholls

The back edge of this low pressure extends back into northern Utah, so I expect to see more showers and thunderstorms over the area today. The drier air is trying to move into the area tomorrow, but still a couple of thunderstorms possible. A cold front moving into the Pacific Northwest today and tomorrow could bring some breezy winds by Thursday and Friday with a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm on Friday. Right now, the weekend is looking really…

Joe Nicholls Forecast for Monday, May 28, 2018

Joe Nicholls

The low pressure remains over Utah this morning with a scattering of showers and thunderstorms over the region for the next couple of days. There's no activity over the area this morning, but will increase with some heating, and tomorrow is looking fairly active. Enough moisture and instability for a chance of a thunderstorm on Wednesday, but should see less coverage.

Joe is calling for a low chance of thunderstorms from Noon to Midnight.

Memorial Day-A 30…

Joe Nicholls Forecast for Wednesday, May 23, 2018

Joe Nicholls

An active weather day yesterday, and still enough moisture, instability and lift for a couple of showers and thunderstorms to develop today. A drier, and more stable air mass should bring a nice break in the pattern tomorrow through Saturday with showers and thunderstorms increasing over the area again on Sunday and Monday. The thunderstorm coverage is still looking fairly scattered, so I'll keep the percentages in the chance category.

We have a Low chance of…

Joe Nicholls Forecast for Monday, May 21, 2018

Joe Nicholls

I think we're in line for a fairly active afternoon and evening with numerous showers and some thunderstorms over the area. The radar is showing a lot of activity over the southwest part of the state and it'll be moving northward and increasing through the afternoon. A little less activity tomorrow, but still a chance during the latter part of the afternoon. A drier and more stable air mass Thursday, Friday and even most of Saturday. Any activity that may develop in the…

Joe Nicholls Forecast for Monday, May 21, 2018

Joe Nicholls

A little less active day on tap, but still can't completely rule out the chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon, but these should be isolated. We'll see more of an increase tomorrow, and a lingering chance on Wednesday, but overall a drier air mass and more stable over the area through the weekend. I put a slight chance in on Saturday, but if there's any activity it's looking isolated.

Joe is thinking we might have a low chance of thunderstorms from 4 to 8…

Joe Nicholls Forecast for Friday, May 18, 2018

Joe Nicholls

A weak low pressure is moving across Nevada and into Utah, then into our area today and tomorrow. We'll see an increase in showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, and especially on Saturday, so I've increased the chances and amounts. The steering current next week is really weak, so once the moisture moves into the area, it's difficult to dry the air mass, so I'll keep a low chance of a couple of afternoon and evening thunderstorms in the forecast.

There is a…

The low is moving from Nevada into Oregon; our moisture values will decrease today and tomorrow with the air mass becoming a little more stable. By Friday through the weekend, the low pressure moving into California this morning will be moving into our area bringing an increase in showers and thunderstorms. It's looking mainly scattered, and in the afternoon and early evening.

Joe Nicholls Forecast for Tuesday, May 15, 2018

The low pressure has shifted a little further west in the last 24 hours, so I continue to expect a decrease in activity to more isolated today and a couple of fairly nice weather days. The moisture and instability return Friday through the weekend with an increase in the showers and thunderstorms.

Today-Sunny, with a high near 68. East southeast wind around 5 mph becoming west in the afternoon.

Joe Nicholls Forecast for Monday, May 14, 2018

The low pressure remains over eastern Nevada this morning, and the latest data shows our lifted index between -2 and -3 this afternoon, so I'll keep the chance of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast. Overall, a little more stable air mass and drier tomorrow through Thursday, then an increase in showers and thunderstorms at the end of the week.

Joe is thinking that we have a Low chance of thunderstorms from Noon to Midnight.

Today-Increasing clouds,…
